Cervical Instability
Cervical instability is a term used to describe a whole range of conditions that involve the cervical spine not being able to maintain alignment under normal physiological load.

These ladies are the pain solving experts. I have had the pleasure of their expertise for my various pain issues. They have even convinced me to try Pilates as a method of pain relief (and it works). Professional and fun loving place to be.
– Cheri Kelcher
What is the cause?
Cervical instabilities are caused by either trauma, such as a motor vehicle accident, or from a congenital abnormality within the cervical ligaments and connective tissue.
Signs & Symptoms
Patients may describe one or more of the following:
- Feelings of instability
- Headache/Migraine
- Neck ache
- Sharp pain with movement
- Dizziness or vertigo
- Facial numbness or pain
What can we do about it?
The therapists at Elite Spinal Physiotherapy use the latest techniques to assess the cervical spine and determine if a cervical instability is the cause of the symptoms you are experiencing.
Once a cervical instability is confirmed, treatment will consist of a combination of manual therapy and targeted exercise. Due to the nature of a cervical instability a targeted exercise program is key to successfully treating this condition. Your therapist will teach you some very specific exercises that you can do at home or under supervision in our clinical pilates studio.
